Facing the threat

Albert stayed few more days at his parent's home before going back to the university, he wanted to make sure that Mayra would be okay, and he also wanted to spend some time with his mother who seemed to be deeply affected by it all. The day before he left he had spent the day at the hospital, Mayra was recovering favorably and she was able to breathe by herself, although it made her really tired. She could hardly speak too and when she did her voice was coarse.
-You know what happened, don't you?- she asked her brother a moment they were left alone.
-Shhh, don't speak, yes I know what happened. And don't worry, the person who has done it is going to pay for it.- he assured her.- Now rest, you need to sleep.
Once everything was settled, and he felt that he wouldn't be able to do anything there he decided to go back and start the battle. He had taken profit of those days to resharpen his abilities to control his dreams, it hadn't taken him too long, but he had felt a bit rusty at the start. He knew he wasn't completely ready, but, maybe, he would never be, and he could not hide away all his life.
Asha was reluctant to let him go, even if he hadn't explained her his intentions. She knew that he had to go back to the university and that there was nothing that he could do for them if he stayed, but she still wanted him close. She made him promise a thousand of times that he would stay safe and that he would go back home as soon as possible. In exchange he made her swear that no one would touch anything at Lara's place, he didn't completely trust the Elders' Council, but he didn't want to take any risk. Albert was afraid to tell her that maybe he would have to stay longer, so he promised her all that she asked for and decided that he would find a way around eventually. He bid farewell to all his family, especially to the twins who were quite disappointed by the fact that Albert hadn't paid them as much attention as they would have wanted, and he got on the train back.
He slept all the way, he knew he would need to be well rested if he planned to do anything. He would need to sleep double, once without dreaming to have both his mind and his body ready, and the other one while dreaming and fighting against Marla. He arrived at the university the evening before his first exam. He knew it would probably be terrible, and that he should take up some time to study, but first, he wanted to make sure his friends were fine. He called Myriam as soon as he got out of the train, and found out that she was with Dalia and Robert in his room. They had followed his advice and stuck together, although he wondered which excuse would they have come up with for the girls to stay in the room.
He arrived to find them sitting on the floor eating instant noodles. They waved him to close the door and to sit down with them, Myriam handed him a bowl of noodles.
-You must be hungry.- she told him.- How is your family?
-They will get over it, for better or for worse we're used to being struck by tragedies. And also, they don't really know what happened, well Mayra kinda does, but what is she to do?
-So what happened?- asked Dalia.
-Marla drugged me and then she took profit of me to try to kill my sister, however, my grandmother intervened and saved her. Lara ended up dying, though. I wonder how can there be so much hate in only one person, why did she need to try to kill my sister?
-Only she knows, anyway, I told you we would take her down and we will.- said Myriam.
-I know we will, but we need to plan carefully.
Then he explained to them what he had planned, they discussed it over trying to find ways for them to help him with it. Albert's first interest was for them to stay safe, however, they were really eager to help him, especially Dalia, for whatever the reason. Once they had found a way for each of them to help, Albert told them that he needed to go to sleep, then he remembered something.
-Have you been sleeping in here all these days?
Myriam and Dalia pulled out a couple of sleeping bags.
-Yes, we have.- they said at the same time.
-On the floor?
-Don't be silly, we were sleeping on your bed, but since you're back now...- said Myriam.
-You can't sleep on the floor! It makes me feel bad!
-You're the one who has to do things while he's sleeping, if we feel we can't bear it we will sleep on your bed when you're awake, but we prefer to think of it as an adventure, so yes, we will be sleeping on the floor.
