Dream On. Chapter 55: Discoveries.

Previously...

Discoveries

The first thing that Albert did when he woke up from his dream was take a notebook he had lying next to his bed and write everything Marla had said. He would discuss it in the morning with his friends, but he was afraid he wouldn't remember all the details. He was glad to see that he would still be able to get some hours of normal sleep, he would need them if he had to take the exam. He went back to sleep feeling slightly confused about all that had happened.
Robert woke him up the second time, the light was already entering through the window, so maybe it was a bit later than he had expected to wake up.
-How did it go?- he asked him.
Albert sat up and looked for the girls.
-Where are the girls?
-In the shower, as soon as they get out you can go in, and we can go for breakfast.
-Good, I'll tell you everything before leaving, though. I don't want anyone else hearing what I need to tell you.
When the girls got outside the bathroom already dressed for breakfast, he handed them his notebook.
-I need you to read this, it's something Marla said while sleeping.- and he headed to the shower. When he got out he found his friends discussing over his notes.
-So, any ideas?- he asked.
-The first idea that we have is that you really need to learn calligraphy.- teased him, Myriam.
-But we also thought that we need to find all these people, Marla's parents, the Priest and the Creator. Although, apparently she is the Creator, which is a bit confusing.- pointed out, Robert.
-The Creator part makes sense to me. She told me that she had been a witch long time ago and that she created the Dreamers, so it only makes sense that there would be someone called the Creator.- admitted Albert.
-But we still need to find all the others. Marla has lived all her life in the city so it is only logic that her parents could still be around, she said that her mother didn't allow her to visit her father, so they must be divorced, therefore living in different places. Albert, don't you know Marla's surname?- asked Myriam.
-I don't, but I can check it out. And what about the Priest?
-We could check in the cathedral.- intervened Dalia.
-Great!-said Albert checking his watch.-We should get going or I am going to be late for the exam. Are you all done with them?
As it happened, Myriam had only one exam left the following day, but both Robert and Dalia were already free because most of their subjects were evaluated throughout the semester. They promised him that they would start researching carefully in the library so they could all stick together with Myriam until she was done. While they shared breakfast Albert realized that he actually pitied Marla, he wanted to punch himself for it, Marla had killed his grandmother and she also tried to kill his sister. However, there was a possibility, that Marla hadn't been the one who did it, but instead, it had been the Creator that had taken possession of her body. He stopped thinking about it, he was getting a headache because of all the contradictions and possibilities, and also, thinking about Lara hurt and he needed to concentrate on his exam. When they finished having breakfast they parted ways.
-Look at the history section for something about the Creator, she was a witch or something similar, so maybe you can find it.- said Albert before heading to his exam.
The lecture hall was packed already, he saw some of his closest classmates and waved at them, they told him to get closer.
-Albert, how are you? We heard about your sister and your grandmother.- asked Octavia, a tall dark-skinned girl.
-I'm okay, my sister is going to recover, but there was nothing they could do for my grandmother.
-Oh, I'm so sorry.- replied Octavia.
The rest of the group offered their condolences as the professor entered the hall and started sorting them out. Then Albert saw Marla, he was surprised he hadn't seen her before, but that day she wasn't wearing neither her hat or any red clothes. She did look as if she hadn't slept well the night before. He thought that he hadn't seen her looking so bad ever. In fact, she didn't even react when she saw him, she was just sliding her gaze through the room without seeing anything. That was when Albert realized that there was certainly much more than he imagined going on, and that he might have the key to save them all.
